Rome is disgustingly dirty. Skip that on your agenda, rather go to Italy and go to the smaller inner and costal towns. Lovely!

i reckon moth was trying to get a rise out of you lot with the belgium/france comment
and cmon amshterdamsh ish fun for partiesh no?
touristy yes but if you're a tourist there's no point pretending to be a local. when we were in berlin last week this american lass and her man we talking (really loudly) about how cool berlin was for a few days and how glad they were that they had friends there because otherwise they'd "just be tourists" - but they totally were, the silly bint! if you're staying somewhere for 3 days you have to be a tourist! geez.

vespa, i did not say to pretend to be a local.
nevermind.
take my advice or don't.
that's all i have to say for now.
ps: Rotterdam is much cooler, anyway.
Witte de Withstraat, Binnenweg... Off-Corso, NOW&WOW, Rotown etc.etc.

and omg jazx you can't be serious about rome! it's gorgeous, seriously you can wander around for 2 weeks in rome without getting bored. if you're heading south for a few days don't forget capri, sorrento and pompei!

a month in europe... you can do so much there. i'd probably go with almost no plans. but that's just me.
probably it's best to schedule all the hectic traveling at first. then save the last week to just chill out at some nice beach city.
don't travel light! put me into your suitcase!!
- vespa0
awww don't be mad at me janne! i'm just a cheap happy tourist and proud of it :)
i've realised i'm becoming more british because my idea of speaking a foreign language is to speak english really loudly and slowly.
rotterdam sounds cool tho

oh man, rome is great. go there and get lost there. it rules. so is rotterdam (very, very live city).
and in barcelona, if you fancy give me a call or someting.
and a great city to have new year's is madrid. very crazy and not so expensive bar hopping until midday (of the next year, obviously).

Anyone know anything about learning to speak the Spanish spoken in Spain? It's my chance to learn. It's a lifelong goal of mine & I want to get started.
I reckon I will move next year overseas, based on where I most loved on this upcoming trip.

spain is a country of countries.
galego, catalan, castellano [even portuguese derives from it] are some of the derivations of the main tongue.
the spanish your probably refering to is castellano spoken in various regions Andaluzia, castille, Valencia, including Madrid..
and having lived abroad there's no better school than trying to make your day to day life.
I'm sure there's a load of schools to learn there...
- brooke0
Yes, Castellano. I want to learn it now.
Thanks to everyone for all the information & offers. I like you very much.

oh god, how i love rotterdam.
:')
if you plan to go there, brooke, hit me up, i may show you and yours around.
- CaP0
crouwel, i agree, imo rotterdam is one of the coolest cities in the netherlands (not that i know loads, but from my visits...;P)...
oh, and brooke, definitely full inmersion is the best way of learning a language (as long as you hang out mostly with locals or spanish speaking friends rather than english). i definitely reccomend you to do it.
although in barcelona catalan is also spoken, you'll get your spanish here easily. if you go oustide barcelona, then you'll have more dosis of catalan... which is a cool language, btw.
- Crouwel0
CaP, word up!
i guess it is similar to Barcelona in some ways. very vibrant, tons of cultural activities..btw. i am thinking of visiting Barcelona this fall or winter!
:)
