hi, I'm a total xml noob
I have a site that I'm building for a client and I'd like to have a single xml doc that they can edit text throughout the site(Multiple swfs). Is there a good tutorial out there that explains setting up the the xml doc and calling the text? Is this even the best way to do this?
there alot of stuff out there but I'd like to use/learn the lastest methodology. Thanks!

I've built this here http://www,pncgrowupgreat.com completely with Flash and XML

http://www.fswdesign.com is pure xml -> flash

thanks alot guys. I have my prototype bringing in text but I'd like to scale it up to the whole site.
Quick question before I drive into the Kirupa tuts:
Will this require multiple xml files?
- JazX0
generally so yes.

best way to handle it is with multiples. alos if you have alot of different data/queries one file will put alot of strain on the server. best break it up and setup routines so that when one is done another request happens. if you get me :)

OK, I'll just make a xml file for each swf, or should I divide into the sections of the site - three portfolios, about, contact, stock.
pretty simple text, just a couple of captions.

The way I normally do it is one XML file per section (i.e. my site has 1 for the news page, 1 for the resume, 1 each portfolio section). It make organization easier, and allows for easier sorting too.

depends on how you want to set it up. If it's for multiple applications meaning if you have multiple HTML files with different SWFs then yes multiple XML files. If one SWF, you could I guess get away with one. Open to you

one for each section sounds good :)

awesome thanks everybody!

sh*t I meant here: http://www.pncgrowupgreat.com/gr…
i broke those up though so marketing could use different sections

i find the best way to organize complex sites width no server side scripting is to deliver mutliple xml [one per section as stated before] and "harvest them" in one big preload.
Then create a multidimensional array [wich is better/faster to handle].

Thanks Unfit, I'll look into that. so each new swf would just call the info from the main swf, that sounds pretty effcient.
