If anyone other than a black person used the word 'nigger', then it would be seen as an insult. I once said the word 'immigrant' and my friends noticed and remarked, "It wouldn't be right if we used that word, but with you it's okay (since my parents are immigrants and visibly so).
- Jaline0
Forgot to mention...I only used 'immigrant' once or twice....

that's exactly what i mean, we are getting in a point where we have to think three times before saying something becouse it might be offensive to somebody. as moth said, i think it's more in the way you say it rather than the word itself.

(Aug 26 05, 09:12)See that's where it all falls apart. You cant hand out race cards with one hand and take them back with the other.
You're going fucking backwards!

it's not about being politically correct, just have respect for people in general!

(Aug 26 05, 09:16)as fucked up as that is, that's the way it is.

Yup that's the way it is. I agree with piper, just have respect. Mind your surroundings a bit more too.

is k77 a euphemism for titwank?
- rockonski0
so, don't offer oral to strangers on the street 30 seconds into a conversation. that's what y'all mean by respect too, right?

wait, what's wrong with the word 'immigrant'. Unless it was used in a sentence with obvious malciousness, I don't see a prroblem.
My mother is an immigrant
- CaP0

(Aug 26 05, 09:30)haha. a wee diddy ride before yer tea. classy.

Okay, well. There are stereotypes associated with being an immigrant, such as having an accent, not knowing things, being 'strange'...

Not my words...
- kyl30
yeah, it's the context of the statement, whereas using the word 'fag' doesn't work in any context, accept the UK it seems.

actually i find being called an immigrant an insult. it makes me feel like I'm not part of this country. I was not born in Canada.
I don't really feel insulted, rather it makes me feel like a second class citizen.

I guess in the same way some people don't like being considered a homosexual, just another person, right?

funny we had these 2 dudes over that we just met out last saturday... they were funny it was thei 5 year anniversary, whatever my roomate 2 girls and these dudes...
whole night went off without a hitch... the one guy was pretty flamboyant/funny/playi hitting on us (and the girls) and cracking us up, but his partner was like real serious and chill the whole night. good people.
later in the night everyone is out smoking and i come back in the house and the serious dude grips me up and starts like "it would be exciting to give you a blowjob let'sgo in your room" "no thanks, not really into it, my girl's right out there," etc. trying to be polite. dude starts pressuring me and puts one arm around me and gets all close and starts trying to grab at my cock through my pants and shit repeatedly ... "sorry dude you're making me uncomfortable, you gotta go, enjoy your anniversary".
then they stole my roomate's sunglasses.
that's my gay story, i was pretty pissed. it's not homophobia, i just can't believe that some people have no respect for other's bodies.
