I'm going for an interview friday in New York City and another one Monday in Philadelphia. Both jobs are interactive web design focusing on coding HTML and Actionscripting. I need to know what the appropriate dress would be for the interviews.
The company in New York I have been talking too since January so conversations between me and them have taken a sort of turn for the informal.
The company in Philadelphia I was just asked to contact today and within 20 minutes they had me scheduled for an interview monday morning.
I'm not really sure what I should wear to either of them. A suit seems like it would be a bit formal to me but I'm not sure how relaxed I should go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think jeans and tshirt is inappropriate, honestly. but do your thing. your work will speak louder than your appearance.
dress like you think you would for a client meeting working with the new firm, maybe?

jeans and a tshirt is NOT inappropriate. we are designers for fucks sake.
your work will most definitely speak louder than what you look like. your personality too.

when cosmo interviewed by me, he wore a leopard thong with a milwaukee brewers baseball cap...
HIRED!

mind you, my jeans cost $200, my sneakers are brand new, and my t-shirt coordinates.
- mrdobolina0
yeah, but machinists dress better at interviews.

suit up.
actually, since it's the northeast, you could also get away with dressing like a pilgrim.

if designing is the only type of work you do... most folks are looking for sharp business skills, too.
perhaps you already know that and are just fucking with me.

"wow did you see his expensive jeans? let's hire him"
sounds silly, no?
- mrdobolina0
it all depends on the company, I bet the principals wear suits now and again.

If you have a shaved head, wear a toupee on the back of your neck.
If you don't wear it on the front of your neck.
