im prettty much poor dude but this is what i do. I put money into another account every paycheque. the same out around $150 thats my savings. my and my gf we put $30 each into a wallet and thats what we use to go out. so sometimes we have to wait a week or take it easy a week to do something special the weekend after. other then that i take out $20 to spend on fast food during work a week so if i get craving i can still have them. I bring my lunch most days and my moms cool she always make extra for me to take to work the next day. its helped me so far.

I try to bring my lunch everyday, usually Healthy Choice microwave meals. I used to eat out almost every day, Corner Bakery, Panda Express, pizza, $4 soup at Au Bon Pan, and it just all adds up.

Don't live in London or any city for that matter. You spend £30 stood on a spot here.

I'm more concerned about it now with getting my own apartment and thus spending more each month.
My rent is going from $470 sharing a two bedroom to $700 for myself in a studio.
Can't afford cable anymore, so that's $63 out my expenses.
Got my DSL/phone lowered from $43 to $28.
Electric should go down from $30 to $15 a month. The worst bill is for cell phone.
Why can't they actually be $39.99? Mine is tyically $60 after fees and taxes. Sucks!

mg33, that sucks, ask for a raise dude. Chicago right?
- lowimpakt0
i pay £600 for my own rent (1 bedroom) as my girlfriend had to go back to dublin for a few months to design a few sets.
£600 = $1,076.05
on top of that i pay for electricity, water, and council tax.
i don't own a tv
fuck it.
- mg330
yep, Chicago.
Yah, I'm fine though. Just have to watch what I spend a little better, it's no big deal really. I did adjust my 401K withholding a bit to provide a little extra per month.I hate giving up cable. It's like giving up a drug. I'm so hooked on that UFC show on Spike, even worse I'm in love with my DVR receiver. It changed my life as far as TV is concerned.
But I'm hoping this change is good personally - glad to be living on my own and want to be more productive.
I know I'll benefit from reading more, writing more music, practicing more, doing more artwork, and I have a Borders and Barnes & Noble within 5 minute walk of my new place to read all the magazines I do AND not buy them every month. :DIt will just take some adjustment.

do liek my German friends do, use vegetable oil for fuel
- DaveId0
yeah but look at median incomes in cities...
example: i used to live in santa cruz. median home price = 800k, median income = 30k. now i live in NYC, median home price = slightly more, but median income = 70k.
that's why it costs so much to eat... supply/demand and all that...
- lowimpakt0
sell your tv.
