Those of you who try and manage your money pretty well and not overspend each month - what are some of the things you do to save money, especially with groceries, things you need for your home, etc?
Do you feel that you don't overspend and are pretty thrifty? What's your secret? I do pretty well with not overspending, but just wondering what some can suggest.

Actually, I spend a lot per month. When I was young my grandad left me a good bit of casholla and I invested it in a mutual fund, so I let that ride, plus the various positions I've had and the 401k rollover etc. I try and invest even more into stocks that I see worthwhile.
I generally don't super overspend though, I save a good $500 per month as well.
Life's short, live as well as you possibly can.

reuse condoms and get all your condiments from fast food joints, those 2 alone will save you 100-200 dollars a year.

totally disagree.
rule #1:
fall in love with somone who is as decicated as you are to an expressly anti-comsumerist lifestyle. it is even better if they happen to be a food snob who won't spend money at restaurants because of the crappy quality.overhead = half
three gourmet meals a day!
i'm a lucky bastard.

Marry a wealthy ugly girl.

Just wanted to add, in my wifes defense, that she did support me in my last year and a half of college. Just looks like I have a year of credit now. It's worth it.

Bring your lunch to work.(healthier too)
Set up your savings account to automatically take some of your paychecks.

seriously: pack lunch (esp. if you live in the city). if you go out to eat: slice the portions in half BEFORE you start and quarantine for the doggy bag.
you'll be how much you can save on food. funnel the savings into a downpayment on your dream home, or beer.

Haha, I knew someone would say something about condoms.
--I have this nifty budget spreadsheet I made in Excel that I use to determine what I have to spend per month after bills and such. I've posted it here before, but if you'd like to take a look:

It will change your life if you don't know how much you spend.
