Had an idea tonite. Probably isn't anything but...
Try to think of yourself 20 years in the future. Think about all of the bullshit culture going on right now: Paris Hilton, The Dukes of Hazzard movie, American Idol, etc.
Some of these things may be dated, but you know what the fuck I am talking about.
Will anyone be nostalgic about these things?

mrDobs, abso-fucking-lutely not. There is very little in popular culture right now I will miss.
- kveldulfr_fou0
to miss and be nostalgic about somehting are 2 different things

well I think you are right, but things like The Daily Show, Family Guy and the Simpson's stick out a bit. Maybe South Park. I don't know, I think that trying to look 20 years ahead is interesting to talk about for sure.

I mean more like, looking forward to look backwards.
will madonna be like barbara streisand?
who will there be another Roger Clinton?
What current new-school celebrity will be in a murder trial in 20 years?
what will pam anderson look like in 20 years?

I sure will, just the same as I am about things from the 80's. Ms Pac-Man, Duran Duran, etc.
I think our brains are wired like that.

However, I can barely remember what was going on when I was 10 to 15. Seriously doubt I will remember when I am 52. Nor will I probably care, no offense.

yes, e-pill... Im high as fuck.
It will be weird JazX, for sure.

I was around for the first round of the dukes of hazzard. Probably will care as little or less than I do now about that.
I think I will be still interested in contempory culture but at 57 maybe less so. fuck who knows what will be happening then. I'm already losing interest in the latest trends especially music. Just give me some hip hop, dub, jazz or whateverI don't care if it not hawt right now.

that's why I started this, I am so nostaglic when it comes to hiphop, it is sick and almost all of the hiphop available now is so formulaic that it would be very hard to think that Chingy will ever last.
where are the kid's Ice Cube's, Tom Waits and Jello Biafra's?
- version30
the kids jello is sage

I'm listening to 'the message' right now and it still sounds as fresh as it did when ksol played it when I was in 6 grade. every morning my mom would drop me off at school and they would play it at like 8:50 and I would ask her to hold on a minute so I could hear it. Some shit is timeless.

dope story kyle.
I hope this thread sticks around a bit.

songs like turning japanese by the vapors, whip it by devo, and i want money by the flying lizards will always mean something to me because they are songs i hear at my softball games every year for the past 19 years ive been playing.
keep in mind i'm only 28

I always wondered what my mom thought of the music we played when we were kids. My brother would bring home records and there'd be stuff like devo - freedom of choice playing over and over. I think we had that on the turntable for like six weeks straight.
Le chic - le freak, haha that was classic.
we talked her into takiing us to see Jaws and she said afterwards that she thought it would be like national geographic or something
