I'm not much of a rap fan, but I got free tickets to a suite to see Lil Jon, 50ยข and Eminem.
Lil Jon and Eastside Boys didn't even try for the first half of their 30 minutes. They shouted out to the crowd. They are amusing though.
50 Cent is the most cliched nightmare I've ever seen. I cannot believe the lack of imagination or talent that was. Olivia was ok, but with his blaring backing vocals, that was ruined. Oh, and every song ends with a loud gunshot.
Eminem was great and saved the night. He had a smaller group, but they were at least entertaining. You have to give that guy talent. He's inspired, funny and unique in a genre that lusts for assembly line cliches.

Other than the Roots and old Public Enemy has there ever been a good live rap show? Ever?

Not sure if it really counts, but I saw the Beasties three times and they were great two out of three times. They're also a great band.

I saw Lyrics Born.. that was a good show. Going to see Hieroglyphics tomorrow night.
