okay - let's have a survey:
how many people from the States who make generalisations about Canada have actually been here?
I live close to the border and it's no joke that institutions here get calls from the States asking a dogsled to meet them at the border in the middle of summer!

i'm not sure how discussion of Canada, UK and Australia come up in threads like these. USA is such a larger country than all those.
i mean if 50% of USA was "liberal" in their political stance, that population would still be tens of millions more than the entire populations of Canada, UK and Australia combined.
so naturally you're gonna hear a lot of shouting from over here.
