Any one got any suggestions for material which i can use to persuade my company to address some branding issues.
We're a medium sized action sports brand and in my view our branding and graphic design sucks... there's no real alignment and no real direction... i want take the inititive but find it hard to explain stuff... any essential book/internet suggestions?

This guy at work has some AIGA branding dictionary that runs through all the terms and concepts. Good stuff to pepper a presentation with.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, post a link because I can't find it on amazon or aiga.
I'll ask him about it when he gets in.

those books look good.
write up a business proposal with the information you get. go about it the most professional way. give them reasons why you think rebranding will be successful.

We've been going through some major rebranding efforts where I work, and it is not easy.
People lose sight of the fact that the major component is what the branding collectively portrays. It is not just a logo, it is not just a new font, etc.
We're trying to rebrand our law firm to match how we feel about the firm, how our clients percieve us, etc. It's hard, but very fun. The firm has been around for about 6 years and has a great reputation. The approach is generally to move forward from descriptions about ourselves that sound like we just opened our doors, to sound like we've had wonderful success and attracted many excellent clients.
My component is redesigning our website for the most part.
But I really enojy looking at everything with the approach of best representing ourselves NOW and for the future, and doing away with what makes us looks like we just started.
