Out of all places, I found out via GettyImages when browsing the Editorial section.
Very shocked, for as someone else said, little time elapsed between his public announcement/retirement and now.

I just found this out and immediately posted this to my weblog:
"Journalism, when practiced properly, is a great art. I might have gone into it myself if I had the right temperament. I don't know that Jennings was a "great" journalist, but he practiced the art properly and was a link to an era when it was more respected and taken more seriously than it is now. This is a cultural loss.
Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Tony Snow, Neil Cavuto, Geraldo Rivera, and the rest of you: bow your sorry fucking heads. You don't and can't live up to it."

i am actually very saddened by it to. moreso than i thought i would be.
my friend just survived lung cancer and his 'cancer free' party is tomorrow night so i think this just gives it a little more perspective.
