I say hands down Univers blows that tired ass over used font out of the water!

They are both tired. Try GalaxiePolaris which mixes the best of all grotesques.

you know i was thinking, 99% of the general public can't tell the difference, so why do we even bother choosing one over the other? i'm not saying this to take any type of stance, i guess i'm just looking for a little enlightenment, that's all

... I once sat through Wolfgang Weingert (fucking snoozer-ville... this guy had no energy and he whined about technology blah blah blah blah - but had to see the legend in person)... and the guy said all you ever will need is akzidenz Grotesk and Times Roman.
He's technically wrong - all you need is one font... which brings me right back to what I said above.

Take a close look at Universe's characters. Just plain slop. Even though these fonts have been played out, a good designer can still make 'em fresh. I call helv or Uni any day.

locator is effed in the a. it looks like univers get a friggin clue.
Univers is a little stinky unless used very wisely. Helv is a staple and even Timmy from south park could typeset with that biatch. Akzidenz g I've never liked but some of my mad type-y pals swear by it I think it kinda pongs tho.

Univers' condensed family is much nicer than Helvetica's, but that's about it. Fuck, we may as well all just start using Swiss for godsake.
