I've been on PC since the first day i've touched a computer, its time to switch. G5's coming in my house september.

I am the same, but before the great switch i must wait for two things:
1) Money
2) Apple intel transition

without wanted to start the age old apple/pc war i do believe that anyone who buys a apple for anything other than aesthetics is a chump.

Its not just aesthetics, its a higher level of product design (thats functionality/ease-of-use, not just aesthetics)
But really this wasnt a Mac vs PC thread was it? I think the bigger issue is that companies could produce better products if they paid more balanced attention to things like good interface design (which includes making it a joy to use) alongside their technical developments.. its all about 'total quality'.

true but mind one thing:
Apple makes HW and SW
for Pc is different.

So?
No reason why Windows shouldn't be a wonderfully designed bit of software that people LOVE to use..
- imakedesign0
look at how many people use windows over mac OS.

why is it seem like that the biggest thing Mac haters have against it is PRICE. If you can't afford it...flip burgers.
Lots of college kids I know buy Macs...shit, just save an extra month or so or buy used.

(Jul 29 05, 08:56)Ok, but in terms of performance, MacOs is designed for a (very) specific hardware.

(Jul 29 05, 08:59)Not me. I hate the eject system of the cd (drag 'n' drop on dumpster)

i don't care to read all these posts, but if you paid attention when XP was coming out, the screenshots you see here aren't going to look like the final version.

i'm cracking up @ "bells and whistles eating up system resources"
oh, is the your phone ringing - yeah it's 1999 calling. it says to dump the 386, throw a couple a sticks of memory in, and you'll be just fine (you can probably even use 1280*104 @ millions of colors with a decent refresh rate!!!1).

What has the specific hardware go to do with good software development?
Surely Microsoft can afford to develop class-leading software, in every facet that counts to the end-user. Does anyone think they do? (I mean class-leading quality, not just the biggest market share, which has come about for very different reasons)

(Jul 29 05, 09:12)Surely, but why pay someone while you can rip others' work?
*escapes thread while waiting to have money for a mac

Thats one thing that pisses me off about Apple...since they control the hardware is SO much harder for people in other countries to get a Mac.
I have a friend in Mexico who came to the states to buy a Powerbook, since it cost more in Mexico.
Fariska...you're in Italy, right?
