is there any somewhat polite way to yell at a printer who's donating the printing of a monthly newsletter? they've had files for this project since the 13th, sent a proof which i approved on the 18th and just today sent me a proof of the back page with their ad on it for approval after leaving me a voicemail last week stating that it was already on press. so it has yet to print, still needs to go to the mailing house and i doubt will make it into the mail by the 1st given the weekend. i need them to know that this is not acceptable but i can't piss them off and lose our free printing of the newsletter.

please help.... you know who's going to get yelled at about this? me. of course it's my fault that we have to work with a shitty, moronic printer because this company is too damn cheap to actually pay for printing. when all else fails, blame the designer, right? so not cool.

In the future you ahould have a contract (or at least an email) with an agreed upon date of delivery. That way, you can prove to your boss that it ws the printer who dropped the ball.

Just because they do it for free, beleive me, they're writing it off on their taxes and MAKING money off you, so don't feel too bad about it.

As far as what to do now, just be nice to the guy. Tell himy your boss is gonna hand your ass to you if you don't get your shit, and anything he can do to speed it along would be greatly appreciated.

Real or not, I feel like crying. That is terrible. I can't stand seeing animals in pain. :(

if only....an actual contract is probably way too much to wish for around here: corporate setting where people just can't seem to grasp how printing works --- like it'll only take a couple hours, maybe a day at the most, right? logical they are not. and as art director, designer, production, and trafficking all in one person, sometimes i just can't find the energy to care.

but thanks, you said exactly what i was trying to get to --- the it's not YOU, it's my boss tactic. wish me luck!

good luck- but in the future I think an email with at the very least a vague timeline is wise.
