are you saying that it lacks communication?

no, i'm saying it lacks the powerful techniques of poetry.
communication as you learn at school is such a basic idiotic thing for advertising people.
it just lingers on common saying and stupidity but not on knowledge.
I wouldn't say this if I wasn't too near to know.
Adv. is a fake queer bitch indivudualist business and it's going to have some major dropbacks in the future because many wittless people actually believe it.

what would you say is a good example of design that has stayingpower/longevity, and an example of current design which you find to have "powerful techiques of poetry"?

shit aint nothing but a bitch without execution and technique

don't you need to be inspired to make something? or no? and don't you think you need to know something about type to layout type? i agree that execution and technique are nessecary too, but, not alone.

there was a poem once in trueistrue.com.
a most anglo-saxon poem that talked about a man with faults, his darkness, and his strenght to keep on the road, knowledgable of his own deeds.
that is a meeting of words and graphics for me. good stuff. I haven't seem any similar since then.

creation should be a symbiotic relationship between ideas and execution.. Often an image we create is just the execution of an experiment to test the idea we have. Then you create your own visual language that you understand fully. You should know your visual language inside and out, but be willing to throw it all away if doesn't suit the idea you have.
And if you don't have any ideas, then stop thinking about Type and have a walk around outside for awhile and look at the clouds.

witt, i'm not understanding your thoughts about poetry. at first i thought that you were describing design as comparable to poetry. that it flows, and works together as a whole etc. but now i am thinking that you actually want to see real poetry in design????
