what do you think is more important?

Why contrast these things?
- jdcomba0
just for discussion. oh well.
- garettwest0
Inspiration is more important than knowledge.
An Einstein poster in college told me that so that much I know.

i thought it was imagination
- garettwest0
I did drink a lot in college.

I think it's a combination of both. Inspiration triggers the drive I have, whereas the knowledge allows me to get my idea right.

I like this question. Though I must say that inspiration is necessary to remotely begin theorizing.
I mean, how else would one become interested in the subject matter to even consider theorizing about it?
Strange question as I find inspiration and theory to be separate, but, nonetheless, I like.
- jdcomba0
maybe if you have interest, and natural talent, all you need is inspiration, not theory.
- jeneraa0
I don't understand where you might be trying to get with this, as theory, in my mind, is only needed to be applicable in certain situations. What are you referring to? I no longer follow.
- jdcomba0
oh, my bad, i misunderstood your other comment.
hwoops

i'm glad you kept thinking on that :)
my vote goes for theory, coz it makes us push forward, either in thinking or in practice, and take chances that may not be understood but belongs, no matter what, to the honourable category of effort.
that's good imo.
- jeneraa0
I guess you aren't interested in understanding what I said, though. Oh well.
I'll try again anyway.
Inspiration is almost always needed to accomplish things. Without it, or a goal, you'll be pretty lost with why you might be doing something to begin with.Theory, on the other hand, generally comes after some sort of inspiration and even creates further inspiration and goals since you're actually looking for something. That something would be findings that coincide with your theory.
But blah. I tend not to explain things any better, though I attempted to break it down.

Cute, Witt. I like.
- jdcomba0
no, i got it after i re-read it. makes sense. that's what i was trying to say
- jeneraa0
Because I believe I contradicted myself in saying that insp. & th'ry are separate, then went on to practically state that they were intertwined, let me correct myself and say that I believe that inspiration and theory will oft have separate applications. I feel theory isn't always needed and that inspiration is.
- jdcomba0
i suppose both are pretty nessecary.
- Witt0
i tihnk most of present design lacks theory and words
it's getting too self-centered and loosing the point.
the best thing is to be a poet and a painter. imo.
that's where art is, but it's a difficult plateau.
love you two, babe ;)
