Is there an issue with Flash published to MX about the masking of loaded .swfs?

whats your problem? post an fla
- UndoUndo0
no but you have to use setMask function with dynamic txt!
- JazX0
you're trying to mask external .swfs?
- stuff0
plus you have to embed the character you want to use if it's dynamic text (or does setMask overrule that Undo?)

Here's the link:
http://www.talesfromthehead.com/…and here's the fla:
http://www.talesfromthehead.com/…The problem happens from frame 159 - 187, where the circle mask closes. Up till then it's fine sitting in the same mask that covers the whole movie.

There is no text involved in this masking. Just a loaded swf with a rotating image in it.

for best results any masking animation should be inside an MC and then mask whatever you want with it. I havent looked a yr fla but i hope that helps

sorry man I don't know what the problem is. Are you trying to load the movie you uploaded into another .swf (I'm a little confused as you are trying to load another .swf at the start of the fla you uploaded)

you cannot mask and THEN load DIRECTLY content into the mc without losing the mask [ie. using setMask]
what u should do is to create an holder inside the target and then load it instead:
var image:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("image... this.getNextHighestDepth());
var mask:MovieClip 0 this.attachMovie("mask","mask", this.getNextHighestDepth());
image.setMask(myMask);
var img:MovieClip = image.createEmptyMovieClip("imag... image.getNextHighestDepth());
img.loadMovie("stuff.jpg");
