...if you were scouted by a major corporation a few years ago. Instead of directly hiring you, they put you through a hazing without your knowledge. Said hazing is part psychological exam, part training, part torture, and lasts for four years. You assume at the end of it, that they will give you a fat bag of cash. Do you go work for them after all is said and done?

what if the money were guaranteed, and you were given a year off afterward to do whatever it is you'd like to do, at the end of it would you do it?

-every work place for the last four years has been occupied by actors who make sure that you hate your job.
-being driven temporarily psychotic by a brainwave generator (such things exist)
-being set up to live with actors who are creepy
-being set up to date people who are actors who act psychotic
-being tormented in pretty much every way you can imagine

And then competeing organizations come in and they both wreak havoc on an innocents life.
It could be like baseball teams going after a top draft pick in this fashion. If one team is set to claim him, the other teams might just raise hell to make sure no one does.
Too dangerous for the person and the organizations to carry on this way, especally for 4 years. A few months, carefully regulated and such, maybe.
And once mind control elements are in the mix, you have to ask where does the program end and the person begin?
