Guys, please let me know what you think about this website - http://arseni.com/clients/stasil…
I've done it for a very good friend of mine, he's the best hair stylist in san francisco.
- piperboytoy0
I couldn't tell if he's a good hair stylist from those client shots. Sorry, but they look ordinary.
as for the site, i like the randomness of the background but don't like the actual boxy layout. When the boxes loaded, i was kind of disapointed.
- arseni0
Yeah, photographs is something we have to work on. He did them himself, and they definitely can be more unique.
What's wrong with boxes??
- Epictive0
No offense, but the pictures of him really creep me out. I know that isn't really helpful, but they do. Speed up transitions between sections, the weird shape > circle fade > whole fade thing was too slow the first and got slower the others.

I unknowingly had my volume turned way up, and the music scared the piss out of me.

start over

I agree about his pictures. They creep me out. He seems like one of those eager queers from Queer Eye For a Straight Guy. I'd like to crab a stick and beat him away cuz he is about to say how bad my hair looks.
Layout is rubbish also. It needs some serious tightening, too loose for my liking.
Emailand web addresses should work, or at least be copyable, but they are not. No good at all.
When scrolling tekst, it becomes blurry if font is not aligned with pixels.
Anyway make it smaller, because there is too much empty space there and change pictures too. The seem like out of TV-Shop anti-cellulite commercials.

Hmm.. I'm not keen at all on the scribbles, they seem to pixelated, anti-aliased smaller scribbles would look better.
The pics look amateurish (in quality of image), I recommend playing around with the Levels (contrast etc), The glows aren't nice looking, experiment with opacity, blending..
I think the green is okay.. but think how to use it better..
Constructive criticism,
Its taking shape - but it's not ready for launch yet!
good job so far though - keep at it mate!

Guys, Thanx for the responses.
I don't know why you don't like the pictures so much. He is gay, and he is kind of like guys from Queers Eye. There's nothing bad about it, especially for a stylist. Shots of him were done in my livingroom with a very bad camera, but i personally still think that the results are pretty good. He's a local hairstylist, not a celebrity.
As for the pictures in the work section, i like how real they look. You can really see the change before and after.
I'll put a volume control there, so the music won't be so loud in the beginning.
Anyone has other thoughts? Girls, what do you think?

the scribbles over the gradient isn't working too well. tone it down. maybe lose the BG. i don't think you need it. Make it load faster. Add some art to the pics of him, maybe incorporate him in to the the green tribal looking thing. like an extension of his tats.
not bad .. needs refining.
maybe try and kill the flash scrolling. i personally am not a fan of the way flash scrolls. it gets blurry from time to time.

some people don't need a website. :/

honestly the typeface PT Banana doesn't go with the layout, with the execption of the shape animations. the scribbles don't go with the boxy layout or anything else.
Perhaps you can make the shape animation morph into the headers?
I would lose the boxes, they seem so restricted and doesn't go with the random scribble nor the scripted type.
the roll overs for the life stylist transform is really bad. like bad css styles.
Honeslty, to make it simple, you should lose the scribble bg, and the top nav bar and intergrate the entire thing into the white box area. it'll make a lot stronger and cleaner look.
You should rethink the typeface choice. It doesn't go with the layout.
Also the shapes animation is nice, but it needs something to make it more interesting. maybe a variation of thickness or something.
Also lose the drop shadow, it looks really amatuerish.
hope this helps. BTW the events photos is creepy. you should rethink that one too Does he really need to be in every section of the site? pick one that looks good and leave him in the about section.

the scribble pisses me off
- arseni0
Guys,
Thanx a lot!I really like scribbles :) And i like how the boxes go with them, too.
I guess i'd have to listen to more people to decide. He loves them himself, though. And why are you so afraid of his pictures? He's a gorgeous guy.
- rise0
If I was gay I'd michelle wei it.
- piperboytoy0
if he likes it, then just keep it. no point in asking us anything.
- arseni0
Piper, what do you mean there's no point... I wanted to know your opinion.
- arseni0
Rise, i think you've got an issure with gays. Your picture proves it, too.
- piperboytoy0
well if you client likes it, why do you want to change? I wasn't being rude, but just wondering.
- piperboytoy0
also you're pretty near completion and would double your work if you had to change any part of the design.
- PonyBoy0
if he likes it, then just keep it. no point in asking us anything.

I'm down with that assesment also - especially if this guy's as flamboyant as you say he is (like the QE guys)...
... if he's happy - keep him that way. :) done.
but yeah.. creepy-ass pictures - his eyes are damn near demonic... and the shot of him hugging himself is terrible. There's no class or dignity in any of these images.
