A sad day indeed...

I dunno anymore, on the one hand he's been great for us for 9 years but I think as captain his behaviour regarding transfer speculation the last few years has been a poor example.
Not sure that the £9.6m reported fee seems enough though to be honest or indeed that reports of Diarra coming in as a replacement are such good news for us.

Jesus Crist 9.6 mil!? How the hell that happened. Is his contract expiring next summer?
If yes, then i feel for you cuz losing Owen last season was a bitter blow to us Reds.

I hate the gooners so Im glad to pea headed Senegalese wanker extradited to the continent.
Will he still wear Vics Vaporub all over his shirt in Italy? FAG
Pires going aswell.... Arsenal 6th in the league!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

He's a class player though. He'd walk in to any team in the world. Does seem very cheap though, i don't think they'll let him go for that, unless there's a player swap involved.

(Jul 14 05, 04:28)He might walk into Liverpool team but he has to be happy with sitting on the bench, because after seeing yesterdays performance by reds against TNS (no big deal i know) i have to admit Alonsos passes were so superb. And Gerrards hat-trick. We have the best midfield partnership in the Prem thats for sure.
- paddywop0
i doubt very much he'd be on the bench at liverpool.
I didn't see the game last night, but i have read reports that say that pool have a lot of building to do, although they won convincingly they need to step up their game for the prem. Though i'm sure they weren't playing their toughest game.
Also, it cant be hard for a top class international player to make some good passes against a team of rejects, sparkys and boozers.

I would snatch juventus hand off if I was wenger. Viera last season was pretty poor, even Tony Adams reckons he is on the wane.
Witness Roy Keane putting him in his pocket in every time they played Utd. And Keane is no where near the player he used to be.
Italy will suit him, slower pace etc. He'll be able to dictate the game more. Wenger knows this, why do you think he's prepared to let him go?
In any case don't shed any tears for him he was ready to shoot off to Madrid last year, it was only the fact he wouldn't of been on Galactico wages that kept him at Highbury.

(Jul 14 05, 04:49)No No No
you didn't see him yesterday. 60 yard pin-point passes to eighter wing to release riise or Potter. Or one 60 yard chip to release gerrard one-on-one through. It wasn't even a fast ball, he just chipped it from his own half on to the feet of gerrard. Bloody brilliant.
And he even tried one chip from his own half to lob the keeper but missed only by few feet. He has by far the best vision and long-range passing in the game.
But have to admit TNS keeper saved them from total onslaught. Made 5 saves that seemed to be going in. It was only because of him the scoreline is onlt 3-0. And mind that half of the squad has been training only for 1 week.. They lacked fitness 2nd half.

I agree he is quality, but i bet he doesnt get those passes spot on when under pressure from chelsea, manu or arsenal midfield closing down on him. Do you see my point?
Also, did they swap shirts at the end? I wheard TNS weren't allowed to cause they cant afford new ones. You would think that liverpool could set them up withs some as a kind gesture.

(Jul 14 05, 06:13)They could just go down JJB Sports and buy a celtic strip from 2 seasons ago.

Don't know about that shirt swapping. I might ask from someone if you want.
But regarding Alonso vs Chelsea and other wanks. He was controlling our match against Chelsea at New Years day until Fat Frank broke his ankle. If he'd stayed on we would have won it. Hw was massive against Blues at Bridge in 1st leg of semi-final in CL. And he might have made the difference in 2nd if it wasn't for Gudjohnsen to get him booked.
I agree Arsenal played us off the park at Highbury but we won at home and he scored a beauty to top corner from the move he started if i remember correctly. And remember it was his 1st season and he is 23. Better prepare yourself for this season.

(Jul 14 05, 06:22)Man i agree, i think you guys are in for a great season, though no chance of bagging the PL i'm sorry to say.
- sajets_v20
I'm not thinking about Prem anyway. It's been so long since the last one so there is no point to expect it now. if it happenes it happenes. Just a good run in there and competing for top longer than last season. But if we get Figo, Crouch and Milito or Gallas, then we might do very very well.
- codfather0
People say that Paddy had a mediocre season but that is only because he set such high standards for himself. I think it will be a big loss for arsenal but we'll get over it.
The more important question is who is Wenger going to replace him with, Hleb is more of a wide man and I'm starting to worry Wenger just isn't going to sign anyone else this summer. We need a keeper, a center back, a right back, a central midfielder and striker is the truth be told. We need more strength and experience in our squad if we're going to challenge in Europe.

Well folks, that's it. End of an amazing Arsenal career for Paddy. The club have confirmed a 20m Euros deal with Juventus this afternoon.
Good luck Paddy and thanks for the memories.
