An informal survey:
How many of you out there are using IE 5 on OS 9?
Do you have any clients that ask for websites to work within this environment?

IE on Mac isnt even supported by MS anymore??

Indeed, but yet I have a client that refuses to upgrade their OS and wants the site to work on there machine.
I just wanted to see how many other people if other people view the web in this set up.

People who view the web in this setup are strange... We don't want people like that coming to our site. ;)

I still grudgingly design most of my sites to work in that environment. I'll probably start doing it by special request only though.

OS 9 is dead...has been for 4 years. There is no reason not to run 10 unless your old school comp can't. And yes MS does not support or develop IE for Mac anymore. Tell him to get out of the past and stop being an old fart.
PS - MORE than half the active Mac users are on OSX
- BonSeff0
you have anything to support that last statement?
- Kidneon0
I work for Apple and they told me so :P

man, what a nightmare. It happens to me all of the time because lame-asses see IE and think that it must be good.
I say, "look at the startup screen. copyright 2001. that is the last time it was updated."
it is wack for supporting css1. I had a client recently tell me that a page was messed up on his computer, which startled me, then he tells me it is mac ie on os9. I ended up spending a minute or 2 adding hacks to the CSS for him. Seriously, there has to be a law against it. It is literally like running netscape 4.7.TR1

If he is paying you and uses IE for 9 - well what can you do besides educate him on why that is a complete waste of life.
I usually show my clients web stats. Most have about 1 to 20 users EVER on IE for 9.
