okay guys, here is the beginning of my website.
note i haven't color corrected the images yet, some may be a bit grey.
also i have yet to add the project description under the images.thoughts?
are there any projects i should nix from the portfolio?
you can crit pieces in there too, although there's not much i can do to change them now.tell me what you think!
p.s. i coded it all by hand! good practice for me...

oh crap, let me fix something real quicklike.
- anzelina0
ok, go!
- alkanenine0
looks good. pure and simple :)

i cant quite put my finger on it, but something seems off with the type. size or location maybe.
looks great otherwise.

I think it may look even more radder if you get wrid of all your contact details and just have the title scatter goods and the images, then have just a wee contact button that brings up the details, I think they get in the way as they are different fonts looks a bit crowded.

hey its kinda hurting my eyes the colours the light blueish/purple bg and the red is strange to me and the the images seem to have different colour outlines which is kind amessy looking. maybe make all the thumbs touch without a border around the image (if that makes sense) and try out some different colour schemes.
or dont listen to me cause i'm not that bright.
:)
sorry if it sounds mean im just trying to help.
- anzelina0
yes chossy, good point.
perhaps that's what is bugging you about the type, mattyd?
- anzelina0
hiten, what browser / os are you using?
i am using mac osx with safari, and the thumbnails all touch with no border [which is how i want it to look].
but i need to know if it looks whack in other browsers, which it apparently does...
any idea how to get rid of that?
- hiten0
i like the work though i didnt meantion that but i just went through a bunch of it very nice.
- hiten0
they do touch but they have a coloured border around them. some are blue and others green.
unless thats how it should be..im on pc ie and ff

is there a reason for the thumbnails to be in columns of different height?...if not then i would just fill out in even rows until the last line...i find it a little hard to follow...maybe just have 1 thumbnail per project and then prev/next buttons for further images and it will clear up

awsome work. good job!!!

I think on the homepage your text is to close to the thumbnails. Same when you see the work bigger, needs more space, not a lot just a bit.
Maybe forward and next buttons?
Otherwise nice and simple.

I dont like the purplish colour in the background either.. and the type doesnt work really either...
It looks in my eyes a little bit cheap...
Although the work in your potofolio looks really nice... you should find a good way to combine it...
ahhh.. good luckkkk

the columns are of different heights because i was trying to break away from a huge chunk of thumbnails, like a big brick.
so it's purely visual.

I feel like the type is too close to the images - it makes it look busier that it really is. Also in your portfolio section, I think it would be cool to have "next Image" buttons for multiple pics of the same project - oly do one image per project in the thumbnail section - it would avoid having people jump around and get confused. Also a little description of each project would help us feel more connected to your work.
all and all, I really like it.

remove the background color from the cells and make sure all cells have 0 border. even better format them with css by restyling the td tag.

Beutiful works and simple and clean layout, very usable.
...BUT:
there are some issues on the tiles:
the ones of the pillowpack in IE 6 have the blue border of normal links. The borders thickness is not always the same:
some image on the tile has left alignment, some other center, some other right (in IE and Firefox): it's a little messy.
- anzelina0
ew, that's no good!
i'll have to get rid of that, i just need a pc for testing...

thanks for coding hint undo.
