Anybody ever get burned out to the point of just wanting to leave design altogether?
I've been working in design for six years straight, doing multimedia design, print design, flash design, you name it...
I'm currently a Marketing Director (print specialist) for a hospital system.
but now I feel like just walking away for a while and doing something totally unrelated to design, such as PR or communications work.

ohh i know it too well, scarabin...you need a vacation..thats all...or a temporary leave...theres nothing worse than being in a creative role without a creative atmosphere...i can definitely think of more fun places to play than in a hospital...
maybe you could take some initiative to do something fun with your team to find inspiration?? a team day trip or something? everybody needs to be refueled.pants.

if you are creative enough you *could* do some "Fun" things in hospitals.
but it just might be that we differ in our interpretation of what is "fun"..

yeah, but there are many aspects of design you can get into. Graphic and web is only a small spectrum of design in the world.
I've tried fashion design and did web and print. I want to get into industrial design.
You just have to do what you like, working in the corporate world can be defeating if you let them rule your exsistance.

evry once in a while I trick myself into thinking that I'm going to leave design...but then I just can't think of anything that would be more fun...cept maybe being a stripclub dj...that would be fun right?

I always remind myself that I don't work at Starbucks or in a "cubicle".
That typically gets me back on track.
However, lately I just want to learn carpentry. Or maybe I want to focus more on photography.

I just dislike spending so many hours in front of the computer. That's why I'm now into photography because it means I can leave my cage and still be creative,

i moved from design into account management - to the dark side! i must say its an easy transition than you think - the subject matter and content is the same, you just have very different dailies duties and challeneges
