A "cry for help"?
- kelpie0
yup, freeze, stare and mumble, mouth gaping, hands trembling probably fairly natural response (though we'd all like to think we'd be out there with the dish cloths saving the day), well done mate, someone being in the right place at the right time to have the presense of mind to call an ambulance may have saved this persons life and they'd probably thank you for it after a time. Good work :)

many people just passing ......I don’t know if even show this..... He was around 30, very slim... The odd thing was that was no pain at his face, he was looking his wrist thoughtlessly........

sounds nasty mate, try not to dwell on it...

you never know how you would react. A mate of mine once had a seizure when we were out taking drugs, he started to swallowed his tongue. i remebered some shit aabout putting them on their side and all that and put my hand in and flattened his tongue. then the fucked bit my finger! its fucked to this day but hes still here...
in contrast,i found a loved one dead and literally fell over their body and cried and shouted, while my girlfriend rang an ambulance and described the situation. my point is... not sure. Oh yeah, you never know how you will react untill it happens and you may surprise yourself.

another thing. I disagree with people who call suicide selfish or get angry with people who have attempted it. It is just so difficult to understand, but try empathy before anger, eh?

when I was in college a girl taht lived in our house cut her wrists. Myself and two other people that lived there went automaton. tied up her wrists and called the doctor. she survived. last I knew (many years ago) she had a boyfriend and was doing well in college.

I had to carry my grandads dead body down a flight of stairs with my granny whailing. I was coming down off acid. I hate that memory but your right donal instinct kicks in and you just do the job at hand
- kelpie0
yeah fair do's, my dad had a stroke whilst sitting on the couch beside me, in that situation yes you do, but wlking down the street minding your own business and theres someone trying to cut their own wrists, I think that might cause me to freeze. But hey maybe I'm less adept at this kind of thing, peace folks :)

I always thought I'd be the type to wig out under stressful situations but when I found myself in the middle of a devastating situation a few years ago my brain just switched into autopilot and I did all the necessary essential practical things I could like phoning an ambulance.
You never know until how you'll react but always be prepared. Know first aid etc and let your instincts guide you

I would fucking stop him and do it myself the coward!!!

(Jul 8 05, 03:12)That kind of attitude will never help. Jesus, grow up!
I've have a close friend who's attempted suicide numerous times. She is an amazing girl but has a lot of problems. She is anything but a coward though. She is so strong. Her demons torment her daily, far worse that any of us can imagine or begin to try and understand, and she trys her hardest everyday not to listen to them or let them defeat her. Times she has slipped but they were the only way she could see an exit from the grief she has to deal with everyday.
Don't bandy about stupid comments like that when you have no clue what you're talking about or have no real experience of it.
It just shows up how ignorant you are.*breaths after long rant.

who, you did the right thing and the best you could at the time. Don't go over what you think you could have or should have done, or feel what you did wasn't enough. It was.
As that twat ronan keating would say, "fair play, fair play, god bless"

let that person do it, they are gonna' get away with it at some point if he/she really wants to do it.
I know that sounds bad, but it's true, unless they seem psychotic, then I might ring ring the Five-O's.
why you askin'?

I would stop them, I lost a friend through suicide 2 years ago she was an amazing person with everything to live for but her choice was not to take that path, I think of her often.
They played somewhere over the rainbow at her funeral.
