Hey all. I am a bit stuck, as I have no idea what to expect salary wise for this. Any help would be appreciated.
I am going for a 2nd interview later today for a position in the front running UK retailer of outdoor and ski gear. They have upwards of 10 physical stores here, and want someone to manage their online presence, controlling content, boosting sales etc.
I have worked for the company for the past 3 years part time whilst studying in stores, as well as producing and working on web stuff. The job won't involve a whole lot of design work, but it is more of a site management kind of thing.
Any ideas on salary expectations for this?

if your company is anything like mine, don't expect much. I work for a large outdoor retail company, and am very underpaid, but you are on a different continent.

Yeah. Having worked for them for 3 uears I know that they underpay. However knowing a market figure would be real useful for today. I have no idea if they are going to say 15k or 25k.

have a range, but push for the higher (obviously) 20-25 go for, why not?

If part of your job is to increase sales, then you can probably ask for commission/bonus. Say sales increase by 30% then you should get a 5-10% commission/bonus for driving up sales. that way everyone wins.
make sure you iron out the details before signing a contract. So that they won't screw you over come time for the bonus cheques.
Or ask for increase every 3 - 6 months or after performance reviews. Make sure that is in the contract too and specify the amount in percentages if possible.

How does one 'push the upper' part of a range? If you say 20-25k should you expect 20k?
Lead with 25, bargain down?
Tough protecting oneself.
But vital.

true, i guess you know they'll take the smaller number so...

start with a reasonable basic and then go for the performance route. that's your bargaining tool

dont go any lower than 19/20

Thanks all. I'm heading off now, assuming I can get out of London OK with the transport and all. The other problem with this job is that it's f*cking miles away, will cost me £200 a month in train fares just to get there. Grrr.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, you confirmed what I already thought which is always nice to hear.
