In Iceland, people used to believe in gnomes in the past. Some old people still believe in those over there. But now people know there's no such thing as gnomes in the wild. People evolved.
Same exact thing with all the Gods and other religions. One day, in many many years, people will say "a long time ago, people were believing in some sort of Gods" and people will find it funny.
The problem is the religion stick to humanity because parents keep brainwashing their kids and those kids brainwash their own kids later. We,re stuck in a wheel.

just because humans are prone to thinking something doesn't mean it's real. we as humans naturally understand things put into a human context so we anthropomorphize everything. just because several cultures came up with similar, obvious, archetypes (such as sun-man and moon-woman) doesn't mean they exist.
