Soundgarden, Nirvana & Mudhoney really were grunge to me - they sounded like "grunge". Alice in Chains were straight up metal, Pearl Jam was classsic rock, as was STP..
That being said, are we on the brink of a grunge revival?

The most amazing bands were in that small period from like 88-91...
Jane's, FNM, Soundgarden, Living Colour, Fishbone, GnR, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, RageAgainst THe Machine...all really rocked with intelligence, artistry, ferocity and integrity..
You don't see too many bands these days with that total package..
