any of you guys have any recommendations on finding an internship?
i've never worked in a firm and have always wanted to but not sure how to approach it.
i really don't care about getting paid but rather to learn.

just call the place you're interested in and ask if they have an internship program. They'll tell you what's up.
it's really fairly simple.

some places I call hesitate when I mention the word 'intern' and want to swat me away immediately.
why is that?
I figured everyone would want free labor, but i guess they don't want people drooling everywhere either.

yeah most places would rather not hire interns because they probably had bad experiences or they don't have time to train.
What you should do is come up with a proposal and sell yourself to the company of choice. Show them what benefits you can bring them. Like your design skills, creativity, etc. Make sure you let them know you love to learn and very enthusiatic.
Make sure you talk to the CD not HR. HR people are morons.
