yeah I agree with the "lick you where you can't" metaphor.

I never thought about it like that...but thanks!

good site....
you talk about the things you miss doing, as you are welcoming yourself to your new reality dont lose yourself and drop it alol to make the great change, yes at first things must stop, but eventually things even out, and you can re-adjust your time to your old self, work hard play harder sound familliar? well we all do just that...waking up at 6am running off to work going out for drinks to unwind going home and smoking mad joints playing unreal for 2 hours eating dinner at 11pm watching that 70's show til 1230am play some more video games or if you are lucky have a girl friend who will lick your places that you cant reach yourself, heh! see everything can still be done and life really has not changeed all that much, you just havent gone thru the motions of walking sideways to get there yet.
do more drugs:)

nice site, nice work.
and lighten up a bit, 'eh? while it may not get easier, it just keeps getting better.
and show up for work on time, for crying out loud. that's an easy one. show up on time, don't leave early. no cheating.

Well said.
However, let me fill you in on a little secret: it doesn't get any easier. Ever.

that's life. but it's only a small part of it. over time you'll find your niche. hopefully, you're not discouraged easily. hopefully, you are pushing yourself ahead of others in your field.
eventually, you find a job closer to home that will shorten your commute and leave more time for http://www.unrealtournament2007.…
you'll find favor with your employer who won't micromanage you and will reward you for your hard work.
better job means better pay, so $900 repairs will become trivial.or you could just moan and groan, become complacent and pride yourself on a 10K postcount on NT while all your peers leave you behind...

(Jun 28 05, 05:20)heheee who was that a pop at mitsu?
wise words tho. and i agree, don't be discouraged.
i find that if things get too easy then i get bored and i start to crave that hunger and uncertainty that produces the freshest work. learn to love the fear and you'll swim along fine!

Hey man I totally feel your pain. I'm a rookie at the whole 9-5 thing as well, only 3months of this hell and I am ready to go nuking futs.

Thanks guys! I didn't get a chance to check this until just now but all of you made me smile, and reminded me that I still have a lot of great things to live for. You guys aren't the only ones who've told me it takes a long time to adjust to the whole working thing.
I have a lot of work to do tonight, but the Padres are uo 5-0 and I've already been to the skatepark so I guess no matter what its a good day. Who knows...maybe I'll even sneak in 20 minutes of Unreal before bed.

at first i totally rejected the 9 to 5. i thought it was 'stifling my creativity'.
which it probably was.
anyhow, now i tend to like it a little bit. not completely, and i know it's silly, but i do look forward to friday afternoons, and at the end of every day i play architecture in helsinki's 'it's 5!'
maybe i've just resigned myself to the working life, but either way, eventually you'll settle into it.
man i ramble.

i must be one lucky mother fucker, cuz i sincerely love what i do.

Oh and e-pill...upon re-reading your post i think your advice was uplifting and completely on point.
My coworker (who's almost 30...yes I know i'm young) has been telling me the same thing for months, but somehow coming from a complete stranger it just makes more sense.
