hey everyone.. i'm in a bit of a problem..
as the art director of a TV station.. i'm in charge of all on air graphics promotions, etc. etc..
i've always worked with video and broadcast stuff.. web.. etc. however i've rarely worked with print.. and NEVER worked with pre-press / color separations etc..
i'm wondering.. is there a tutorial to setup my files before sending them to get negatives made? the print will be Black and Blue, so i only need to make 2 negatives per print..
any of you pre-press people out there, please help a lost soul.. i'm scared out here in print land :(

what application will you be using to create the file?
- blaw0
yeah, sorry. it's pasci's pre-press checklist. i was hoping someone would translate it, thus benefiting me.

I'm working in Photoshop 7.0 Gruntt..
and my colors are green and black, OR blue and black..
Green is PMS 355
Blue is PMS 293thanks in advance..
- gruntt0
if you have your 2 spot colors specified in the files the printer should be able to produce the color seps, no problem.
- blaw0
for a two color separation, create the photoshop file as a duotone and save as an .eps.
place the .eps into a desktop publishing app., such as indesign or quark.
i always print out my separations and toss them on a light table just to make sure i'm not missing something.
hope that's a bit more helpful.

this somewhat helps.. although i have nothing but photoshop or illustrator to create this with.. :\
i'll see what i can do..
FYI.. i'll be sending the files i create.. along to one company to make negatives.. and then i'm taking the negs, to another company for print..
- gruntt0
if the company that is creating your negs is a pre-press house you should be in good hands.
good luck.

alright..
i've gotten my image..
converted it to greyscale, changed it to duotone and included the color needed along with black..however the image doesn't look the same as i've intended
it's a little more green and washed out than the original layered photoshop doc..
any tips on how to separate the green out into its own file first? or should it look this way?

... err.. crap.. this is frustrating..
