why?

artists Christoph Steinbrener & Rainer Dempf somehow managed to convince the city officials of Vienna and the local shopowners on Neubaugasse, a popular Viennese shopping street, to cover in a monocrome yellow fabric, all advertising signs, slogans, company names and logos

that's really cool. do you think doing that kind of work takes years to prepare for? ya' know...all the legal hoops, govt. backing etc.

Yeah. Months, at least. I can't see any U.S. city agreeing to this. The Gates in a public space is one thing, but American shop owners allowing their logos to be covered? Sadly, probably no.

oh man, the coffee shop i used to go to had a rad logo, and all nice design, and they sold it, the woman who bought it turned it into a hippy lesbian place everything is all purple, and womans rights and all this bullshit. i'm gonna put a yellow piece of cloth right over the whole store.

After reading the press materials it sounds like it's fluorescent foil, not cloth.
