on that note... good night folks.

they are ripping someone dischord to appeal to their audience... but probably actually pissing both them and dischord off at the same time, by bringing more baggage than actually taking (if that makes sense!)

for once, right now, I will say: That is total bullshit and I hope Discord sues their ass off.
For all the newbs that post up "rip alerts" like there's not tomorrow take note. This one is an actual full-on rip.
So sad. Nike will always burn in hell.

from dischord
"No, they stole it and we're not happy about it. Nike is a giant corporation which is attempting to manipulate the alternative skate culture to create an even wider demand for their already ubiquitous brand. Nike represents just about the antithesis of what Dischord stands for and it makes me sick to my stomach to think they are using this explicit imagery to fool kids into thinking that the general ethos of this label, and Minor Threat in particular, can somehow be linked to Nike's mission. It's disgusting."
- lowimpakt0
doh!!! I just realised that quote from dischord was in the originally linked article.
i'm hungover to the bejaysus...

Nike is one of the sponsors of this site - just think that's odd right now is all.
dont know if anyone pointed that out up there but its too much to read through all of them 60 posts read was enough.
- lowimpakt0
yea sikson.
it was fun when that happened.
"oh them were the (pre nike) days"

I think regardless of whether people would work for Nike if they asked or whether "this is corporate America" (dickhead) - in this case the visual assets of one philosophy are being wholesale raided to promote one in complete opposition without permision and that is plain wrong.
Yes if it waqs done by someone with views closer to theirs (Howies or someone?) then it would be "appropriation" and presumably, as long as the owners were made aware of it, it would be OK and even cool, that is NOT hypocritical. like this it's theft and I hope they get wholly pulled up on it. Bastards,

hello and thanks for writing to Dischord. We were surprised, angry, and
quite frankly offended to find out that Nike has appropriated the Minor
Threat artwork for use in a skateboard demo/ advertisement campaign.
Rest assured that Dischord had no advance warning this was going to
happen nor did the label or the band grant Nike permission to use the
Minor Threat name or imagery. I have received many angry emails in the
last several days from supporters of Minor Threat and this label and I
would encourage you to resend your comments directly to Nike. As of
this moment we are looking into what, if anything, we can do to make
Nike stop using our images to sell their shoes. Many thanks for your
support and understanding.Alec
