As long as you don't mind 6 weeks of eye drops and not going out at night then you'll be fine. Got a friend who had it done who still denies these things but I can still see him wincing at streetlights.

I won't have the night time issues. I'm getting the second best procedure, new technology, much more advanced than the original laser surgery.

I work for a maketing agency for Ophthalmologist, see this stuff a lot. It's quick and painless.
I would suggest LASIK with IntraLase. The rest will use a microkeratome(a.k.a. blade) to make the flap. IntraLase makes it an all LASER surgery.
A lot of people around the office have had LASIK with absolutely no problems.

All I can say is...
HOLY CRAP.
For the first time in my life, I can see across the room, down the hall, across the street, down the road...
I can see all the leaves & bricks on the house across the way. And to think I'm only at 85% right now...
The procedure itself was so quick & the doctors were awesome. It wasn't painful at all, just very very strange. Ever see "Fire in the Sky"? It was kinda like that, only very slow & gentle.
Well maybe that's a bad comparison...

I'm reminded of a documentary that followed deaf kids that got a brain implant to hear for the first time, they all cried and some got aggressive like sound was a sort of pain sensation.
the comparison doesn't go up completely but in some weird way doesn't it seem all too sharp? like too photoshoped :)

You are awake during the whole thing. They do one eye at a time. After putting numbing drops in, they clamp your eyelids down so you can't blink. That's the hardest part. No, it doesn't hurt at all, but is a very strange feeling. It's very quick, though, and once it's done you'll see it was no big deal. I had to remind myself to breathe a few times while I laid there. It's important to stay calm.
When it was all over (a few minutes later) everything's cloudy, like you're underwater, but your vision is obviously improved. That was the coolest thing. Then I had to go home & sleep for 4 hours, which is very important to begin the healing process. I woke up a few times, being very sensitive to the light, and I could feel some itchiness & discomfort, but no pain.
I was officially up & about an hour ago & looked outside for the first time...
It was like that scene in 'Interview with the Vampire".

congrats, brooke! now you can see.
the procedure doesn't sound too bad. maybe i will try it in a few years. i don't mind glasses or contacts. only time it bothers me is when i am in the water.
