hang in there.

yeah hang in there. Something good will come, just work hard!!
I've been freelancing for 2 years and sometimes feel the same. But now I have a long term contract job and I wish I was home alone.

Your not trash, unless you live in a garbage can!
Do you have a website? Thats first. Make some cold calls and get in their faces. A simple letter doesn't do it any more.
Good luck and keep your head up. It could be worse.
If you are at home follow this rule. Do not turn on the TV during the day. Nothing makes you feel worse then see an episode of daytime TV.

also use this time to learn a new app.
Flash // After effects // html // print processing // etc
do some tutorials.

Thanx for the encouragement!
I do have a web site, but i'm kind of embaressed to show it here!
And its kind of hard to move to another country (which is the ideal plan)
i can't go there and find a job... Its's too expensive...
the interviews i went damaged my budget really bad.Just one thing, I keep the tv on ... But on another room, just to hear voices and feel some company...

Where do you live that you need to move to another country?
If you live here

I don't feel too sorry for you.It sounds like you miss company and collaboration. Maybe you should get join an artist's collective or start one in your area. Or just get a part-time job somewhere fun and freelance on the side.
If you really want a full-time gig with relocation, you should work somewhere near you first. You know how it's easier to get a job when you have a job...
Good luck. Don't beat yourself up, champ.

what do u do?
- shellie0
wow. sux0r. can you take some of my work?

ive been unemployed since "last" may.
don't worry about it man. just make sure you get enough work to pay your bills and stay busy. i find being at home alone a better environment to work in.
however, i, too, am now looking for a job. so don't take what i say seriously.

anyone can find a job if you hit the pavement hard. We're dying for good designers and programmers. there are lots of people around.. but hardly anythat are good.. and even fewer of those with heart.
if someone sent me an impressive CV and package, they'd have a job straight away.

I feel for ya--things are tough sometimes, unless you're shellie

I need a job too. Probably some part-time, non-designery job and design on the side.
It's good to have at least one thing to fall back on.

i need councilling more than a job, but i'm not looking to be happy here.

Jenny, i live in lisbon, 5 km from the river....
But i'm tired of living here!
I really need a change!
But you're right, I miss being with other people and sharing ideas (even if they aren't work related)I'm a web designer.... whatever that is...
Maybe I all I really need is a change in career for a while...
Anyway, thanks for all the kind words!
I was really needing them !

i've been working in realm of environmental graphic design, desperately trying to move into a nice and fresh print job. but there's hardly any place that will give me a callback. any thoughts?
- tkmeister0
mate, i've been in the same situation. there was a time i didn't get a project for 6months. I was counting pennies, my credit debt was going high...
that was 4yrs ago. things change, keep looking up and stay positive!

to be honest i think that what's worst when you're looking for a job is not getting a repply!
It's like they are saying: You are to bad to get an answer! die you talentless piece of crap!
maybe i'm over reacting.... but thats really bad... an email is like 10 mins to write, and they can send them to all candidates who didn't go through....

Hey Obsolete.
I've been there many times, even when I'm busy with freelance work.
If you want a job that badly, you should be more pro active with your job hunting.
I have to tell you how I started working as a designer. After graduation, I called every design studio in my city and bascially asked each on if they needed designers. I must have had over 50 no until I got 1 interview.
Well to make a long story short, they hired me and I've worked for them for over 2 years. Back then I didn't have a portfolio, but my boss said that he was really impressed by what I did, that's why they hired me.
In life you have to take chances and go for it. Calling is good because all they can say to you is no. That way you know it's not you!
