If F1 got their shit together, they could have organised a marathon where all pit crews would run the length of the track to see who could do the laps in the fastest time.

I Have been watching F1 for over 16 years and have never seen such a disgraceful disregard for the fans and basic respect for a sport.

I was shattered watching that race. Watching the sport I love hit the lowest point I've ever seen is pretty gut wrenching.
1. Yes, Michelin brought the wrong tires and should be punished, no question.
2. But then it becomes a question of putting on a show. The FIA failed miserably there. One of the suggestions was to put in the chicane, and the Michelin runners score no points. Implementing that would have been achievable and we could have actually had a race to watch.
3. As for FIA being right in not bending the rules at all to allow a watchable, and safe race - INTERGALOS 2003. Bridgestone didn't bring a full wet tire, only their Intermediates, which given the heavy rain before the race were unsafe. The FIA compromised and allowed a number of parade laps to clear the course of water so that the Bridgestone runner's (Ferrari) could compete. I'm not saying either decision is the right one, but there should be consistency. What's good for one should be good for the other.
4. F1 is as good as dead in the US. No question. At this stage, I don't think that's a big loss. Indy was never suited to F1, and this tyre issue proved it. F1 cars simply aren't designed for that kind of circuit. F1 and Indy cars look similar, and that's about it.
5. It's also dissapointing that this was actually a pretty good season, with some cracking races and a reasonably close championship. This race will overshadow anything that happens this year.

(Jun 20 05, 08:38)I think you're confusing F1 with NASCAR.

never compare nascar to F1.
anyone live near Watkins Glen? i wouldn't be surprised if some construction starts there in the near future.
- NegativeSpace0
Agreed. Two types of racing that should never be compared.
I think Nascar is pretty lame.

left turn only racing is the most rediculous sport out there
- moural0
You think they would race again at Watkins Glen, auricom?
I think it would take a heck of a lot of work and money to get the course fit for modern F1 cars. The elevation changes and banking are pretty severe as the track stands currently.
Hopefully they do scrap Indy though, and while they're at it, I hope they dispose of the Hungaroring.

I stopped watching when they introduced the Halo.
F1 was best during Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill era.
- That last three races have been really good though.section_014
