Hating my new gig

Just started freelancing this week at a new place, and I hate it. I am doing high level Art Direction, sketching ideas for banner ads. The hours are crazy, no time to get anything done, and I don't feel like I am as good at Art Direction as I am at flash animation and design. I would rather be animating all day.
I am at the point where I am thinking of quitting this week, but am not sure if I should stick it out another week.
Has anyone else left a freelance job after just one week?
- brandelec0
nope, but i hope you can handle another week at least
is there someone you can talk to there about that?
- k770
do you have anything to prove by sticking it out?
- swollenelbow0
if you're not happy get out.
it's easier said than done as i am kinda in the same situation. too much work, too much demand for work and no time do anything. also no where close to what i should be making as a "creative director".

That's what freelancing is all about. You and your employer get a chance to see if you enjoy the work. Don't stay if you're not happy...

damn, shellin, were is it at? Hang in there. Just take your animation knowledge and apply it. Then let the prod artists do the work.
How you doin' otherwisse?

Do the work or quit. That simple.

The other thing is I feel like I am better at taking other peoples ideas, and bringing them to live in flash. In addition, I am trying to learn motion graphics, and I feel like continuing to get better at motion design is best for me.

sounds like you are overwhelmed.
Take some deep breaths and figure it out over the weekend. everything looks different on a Sat.
- jevad0
sounds like you are a 'do-er' rather than a 'say-er'
maybe you aren't cut out for the 'director' line
nothing wrong with that mind

what jevad said.
some people are really skilled in production and animation. the CD/AD type needs a different mentality. some can do both but those are rare.
