in parts of asia sex (and masturbation) is regarded as a powerful way of channeling your will and your body's energies in a profound and spiritual way
in papua, new guinea mothers masturbate their infants in order to calm them down during fits
now explain to me how watching someone having sex is immoral and unhealthy
it's just ridiculous

society is going downhill each day, with the amount of sex and violence we're being exposed to in one form or another, masturbation will be part of daily lives to quench any excess urges or to calm. It'll be like a dirty siesta.

"morals" are highly subjective and vary widely from person to person and region to region
in the end it's just local custom, and you have been raised in a area where it is considered taboo.
you think it's wrong not because it's wrong, but because you have been told by people around you that it is wrong

i think female insecurity is detrimental to a relationship
scarabin
(Jun 15 05, 08:47)i have never known a woman who wasn't insecure, its a package deal.
a man's interest in seeing other women naked does not help this issue.

I don't think anyone is saying that sex, masturbation and porn are bad. Just that if used/done excessively (and so much so that it can ruin your relationships), then it's not healthy at all.

every man wants to see other women naked, it's a biological fact, and is unavoidable. we are literally made to impregnate as many women as possible before we die

(Jun 15 05, 09:20)i'm saying its bad. nothing good comes of it. ever.
that's my opinion. you are free to have yours.
- scarabin0
i agree jaline, that excess of almost anything is unhealthy
but i think the thread has gone past that to the point where people are just saying that porn is "wrong"
this is what i'm debating

hmmmmmmmmmm.

scarabin
(Jun 15 05, 09:22)well thats obvious scarabin.
but acting on this instinct will help a relationship how?
- Jaline0
I agree with you Jakey, I was talking to Scarabin.
And Mogwai has some good points as well.

I watched a documentary on CyberSex Addictions this past winter on CBC. Some facts included...
"Sex is the most frequently searched topic on the Internet. A survey of internet users revealed that more than 8 million North Americans pursue sex online for at least 11 hours a week.
According to the statistics, porn revenue is larger than combined revenues of all professional football, baseball and basketball franchises in the U.S. and the revenue exceeds the combined revenues of ABC, CBS, and NBC (6.2 billion).
1,000 brand new Internet porn sites are created every single day."

then consider porn a release for our natural urges. this way men don't have to act them out.

i wonder what kind of self esteem your wife/gf will have in 20 years compared to others who would make this small sacrifice.
god forbid we go against our 'biological' insticts as an of love...
oh no, it's the 1950's all over again!!! what will my neighbor think!!! omg!!!1111
- mogwai0
this way men don't have to act them out.
scarabin
(Jun 15 05, 09:28)this is acting it out, but in a less destructive manner.
thats what you're missing, it often does do harm, and thats to the ego of the woman in the relationship.
- Jaline0
It's sort of annoying when guys claim that it's 'biological' whenever they do something someone else doesn't like. I'm not saying it's completely wrong to say that, because women have biological things going on too, but saying that you can't control yourself is...just...weird.

Jaline
(Jun 15 05, 09:30)yeah like the natural instinct for a woman to leave her man for a better provider/ nore caring partner.
- Jaline0
Also, I wouldn't have a problem with a guy who enjoys porn, just as long as it never becomes a huge issue (in terms of excessiveness or insecurities). If you need porn to be turned on to your partner, then you may want to re-assess your relationship. Or yourself.
- SteveJobs0
also, how much does a woman think of herself if she's open to her husband getting off on other women.
i'll pass.

mogwai(Jun 15 05, 09:29)
no, it's watching someone else acting it out, and in a NON destructive manner.
if porn takes over your life you've got other problems
and as for women, i have nothing against making a sacrifice for a woman, but just because you choose not to watch porn for her benefit doesn't make the act morally wrong.
it just makes it going against the rules she has set for you.
