How long is this Acid revival thing going to go on in current house and techno?
It good and all but its all I hear...
If you thought this thread was about the drug acid - well thats good too...
as long as progressive anything is gone forever I'm happy...
how come i don't get flashbacks? that's what i really wanna know.
$5 per hit, but no flashbacks. ever. not even one. i feel ripped off.
hhahaha... i think we are all on the same page here thats for sure.
Some good acid'ish house coming out right now, but I do agree it is a bit much. what sort of house/techno do you guys like?
the new luke vibert is badass!
haha,long live acid house..
It was far too short-lived a trend when it first arrived, and to be honest, only a minority of aficianados really had any great understanding of how it worked.
Now, 15,16 years later, a whole new generation has 10 years production, clubbing and listening under their belts, and I for one still very much get off on the new repressings of the old future stuff..
As with every 'movement'. there is a fair amount of dross, in so far as labels need to make quick cash and not every marketable producer can be Todd Terry, nonetheless, Im excited to hear the demise of the 80s pop sound into something more hypnotic and groovy. Acid house is a tough one to bring to a new audience, or for radio play as it doesnt rely on catchy hooks and formulaic programming, which is really its whole appeal.
Its long been time to unwrite some of the rules of dance music, and have a cull. :P
No flashbacks here either Im afraid. Might be something to do with the fact that all the acid I ever did was metabolised within 4 hrs of me taking it, like everyone else.
I did think I could fly and jumped out of a window, though.
woody mcbride, ian pooley, and barada were and still are some of the best classic acid house producers. i wish i still had all that old stuff on vinyl....although a lot of that shit is repressed so it's not quite as cool : )
really into alot of really dub heavy techno like Fenin, Anders Ilar, Rod Modell, and labels like Echocord, Thinner, Morris Audio, and so many others.
flashbacks suck. its all the bad part of trippin accomponaied by a panic attack, tunnel vision, etc. like a bad nightmare.
count your blessings.
so they do exist?
Maybe I havent done enough and thats ok.
i find it sad that our generation seems to need some kind of retro reference/ regurgitated theme to validate a new direction or style.
applies to everything; art, fashion, design, music, movies.
no, its just that Acid house is great. If it hadnt existed, wed have invented in anyway.
i just picked up luke vibert's YosepH before ever listening or knowing him, pretty bad ass.
