Is there anything good to do in Hartford, CT or nearby? Is anybody going to the STones gig there in August? What would you do in NYC? Any NYC veterans care to share anything?

my aunt lives near there. there's a salt marsh and it's some sort of aviary reserve. really beautiful. but as for the city itself, i know very little. it always seems a bit bleak.

what brings you to hartford?
there are some nice things to do around hartford, but not much in the city itself.if you're into museums you can check out the wadsworth atheneum.

but yeah, i'd spend a lot of time in nyc instead of hartford...

I'm in a camp scheme and travelling a little. The camp is actually in Andover, but Hartford is the nearest 'big' city, I was just wondering what there is to do (I get the impression it's beautiful but a little bland, especially in comparison to NYC).
Also, are there any design decent book shops in NYC. London has Magma, for example - is there an NYC equivalent?????Many thankings...

andover. i lived there for one semester in college. it's a little country town, very cute. just take a drive down some back roads and see where it takes you [assuming you have a car]. there's some great little flea markets and drive-in theaters around there. it's very much kind of stuck in the past.
as far as bookshops, there's a good shop called 'untitled' on prince street [ 159 prince street, tel. 212 982 2088 ] that i like.

in west hartford there are good restaurants!! and there are some good strip clubs in hartford as well.
