it's your invitation, forget effin trends and what decoration/invitation might make your wedding look expensive/grand.
do what you two feel comfortable.
a wedding that's you will make both of you feel very at home.
a trendy wedding will only make you grind your teeth when you receive that credit card bill.

I used ribbons in my wedding favors last month. if you want, i can email you what i did or maybe even dig up a photo with favors in them.

For the invitations use a dotted font for the main heading, get the holes laser cut, and then use the cuttings as confettit....

i've heard many couples say they wish they had done what my wife and i did.
we went up into the mountains with our 2 dearest friends (who happen to be married). he was ordained to perform the marriage and she was a witness/photographer. we literally asked a hiker on the trail to serve as the second witness. it was incredible. see for yourself... this was us 10 minutes after we were married. no it's not posed -
then a month later, after our honeymoon and all that we through a big party for all of our family and friends. This was our invitation:
my only real advice is make sure it's fun and memoralbe for you, the couple.

no, i'm in Reno. I used to live in SF. Sorry :(
I do know that if mr. mayo didn't fall in love with the place we had the ceremony, i might have pushed for one of the museums in town. Apparently, it's quasi normal to have weddings in museums. How cool is that to get married amid great pieces of art? You wouldn't need too much in way of flowers or other decorations if you got married in a museum.
