I really hope it doesn't go away. Wicker Park doesn't need a Banana Republic that will steal customers from many of the cooler boutiques around there, and above all, it will be a major loss without the best venue in that area there.
In other Chicago related goingson, my band is playing Friday June 17 at Silvie's Lounge on Irving Park.

Why does everyone mention the movie when Wicker Park comes up? I lived in Savannah GA for 4 years, and anytime anyone that didn't live in Savannah heard the word Savannah, they said something along the lines of "I saw Midnoght in the Garden of Good and Evil".
I moved to Wicker Park and now I keep hearing abput the damn movie Wicker Park.
Yes, I thought the movie was pretty good, but the neighborhood is much so much better.

infostruct,
Which one is it: It's not about Chicago's Wicker Park at all,
or,
It is about Chicago's Wicker Park but not filmed there? Can't remember which it is.

Are you sure it isn't filmed there? The entire movie takes place in Chicago (opening credits are nothing but skyline shots), and there are scenes in front of a hot dog stand which is said to be Wicker Park, but I have never been to the exact location it shows. I always assumed it was the neighborhood though.
Honestly, I haven't acually been to the park yet, I live closer to Palaski Park so we have just been there. Maybe I will go tomorrow though.
Moving on, I will try and make your show, but if I can't I will surely be at one soon. Brooke and I just got here Saturday, and can't wait to see everything.

You and Brooke from NT? Where did you move from?
There's a Wicker Park park, but referring to the area people mean more of the area of shops and bars and such, down Milwaukee, North and Damen.
If you go at night on the weekends you'll notive the homeless shelter bus parked right in front of the actual Wicker Park passing out clean needles and food.Welcome to Chicago though, how long have you been here?
Thanks if you can make our show, it's always a good time.

Yep, Brooke and I moved up Saturday, along with 2 other guys who are living with us. We were living in Savannah, GA and moved up after my college graduation. It's been a crazy few weeks, but we are finally here, and so far it has been fantastic.
We live just off Division at Ashland & Milwaukee. About .25 miles from the Division Blue Line stop. Fantastic neighborhood, been a beautiful week, couldn't have gone any better.
Thanks for the welcome to Chicago, it already feels like home. I hope we stay for a long while.

That's great man! You'll find that this city is nearly perfect. I moved here on a whim from Texas in September 2001, packed on Sept 11 actually.
It's a little warm out now, I hope that it's a mild summer. Last year was and it was nice.
You should really get out and try to see as much as you can, get on the el and take the brown line north to the Belmont/Clark area, go up around Wrigley Field, etc. Any suggestions you need, feel free to send an email.
I live on the north side, if you look at a CTA map I am right by the Irving Park brown line. Used to live closer to where you are in Logan Square but it was kind of isolated and I wanted to be closer to stuff, grocery store, bars, restaraunts, CTA, etc. all within walking distance.
A word of warning: There are enough bars in the city to go to a different one every night for three years...
Hmm, what else...
The City North AMC movie theater on Western has $5 movies on Tuesday, free parking, and free bag of popcorn. I've not gone in ages because we have band practice on that night.
Are you working yet?
