just after the apple inuclearPowerStation and iCoolingTower are released. i believe the iCeramicTitanium base to place the laptop on (so as to stop and silly little desk catching fire) will be optional. looking forward to it!

Never. Apple just annoucned that it will be moving to Intel Chips in the next 2 years. Im sure a lot of it had to do with the fact that IBM couldnt figure out how to get a G5 in a Powerbook.
So No G5 PB. Youll get a Pentium Powerbook instead.

wonder if they'll call it a g6 or start something new

so not to start some pc mac thing...but what is the best laptop for running the usual suspects (flash, ps, illy, quark, c4d, etc.)? need to get a mobile machine and was waiting til the g5 came out, but can't wait another year for an advancement in apple laptops...

linearch, i'd suggest buying a powerbook... especially if you're a print guy.
i'd still go PB if you're mostly web... but PC works too... the new vaio's are pretty sweet

So does thios mean that when they have an OS to run on Intel Chips that Mac OSX1 will run on my Intel Notebook?
- eficks0
well apparently its been running on x86 hardware for 5 years, not sure why they can't release it now though.

they dont have any software other than the stuff they make themself that runs on it...
And no, it will never run on a regular wintel machine, that would never happen bacause 75% of all people would just buy a Dell and run OSX on it, which means there is no reason left for cool iMacs and Powerbooks..
OSx wil stay on a Mac forever

"And no, it will never run on a regular wintel machine"
Once it runs on an intel, it'll be easier to port to a regular pc and it's obvious people will be doing it.
BTW. wasn't a regular Dell used for the keynote?
still.. http://osnews.com/comment.php?ne…

they have a technology they call rosetta that emulates all current software, apparently well.
I think they bought out some company that was working on it.
