I know of a way to settle this.
Each of you wirte a one to two paragraph treatment on something out of a mob movie
Write it in screenplay format and the best treatment will be deemed most knoledgeable in cinema and shall win favorable opinion.

nah i let the young buck win this one about the flim. he did take flim classes and i didnt.
i just know what i like and dont like.

but i was just expressing my opion about cinematic characteristics between GF and GF
eventhough GoodF won academy award for the cinematogrpahy (i think) mainly due to invention / use of the steady cam used during the restaurant walk through scene

I love Goodfellas, it is one of the few movies I can keep watching over and over, in fact I watched it last night. The Cinematography is great, awesome story and the acting is so believable, which just the right amount of humor. Pesci is awesome!!!
I find myself laughing at half of the dialogue in that movie, so many good lines.

the only oscar it won was for best supporting actor with pesci, however, scorsese was completely robbed of best director (first time director kevin costner won it for 'dances with wolves')
but, yes, the steadycam shot was brilliant. as was the sequence where the helicopter was following henry. the way that scene was paced was amazing. just how scorsese makes you feel as though you are coked out (as hill was during the scene) was brilliant.

I like how goodfellas and soprano's make mobs look cool. My girlfriend and I were watching Soprano's a while back and it dawned on us that the world would be such a great place if mobsters and thugs ruled it. Sometimes you just wanna say screw justice, due process, politics, just go in there with some bats and bust some knee-caps.

tehgee I understand what your saying but I mean, you know, just be proud of your thugness and not hide it behind cold smiles and pressed suits.
Like when there's a press confrence and a reporter stands up to ask the president a question and the president doesn't want to answer right... well instead of saying something to skirt around the topic, he should just look the reporter in the eye and say something like "Are you fucking talking to me?" turn to his aid and be like "Did this CBS motherfucker just ask me what I fucking think he asked me?".
Well at least it would be a start.

that is a great shot
as for GodF, i like how the scenes were very numb dull, u could really feel the coldness through out the movie. yes as for inovation of cinematagraphy, i agree that GoodF was good, but i still find the numbness of each scene brought humanistic and realism.
it is true that GoodF's scenes really matched the mood and the theme of the scenes, but i think, GodF had something more of a over all grand feel to it. reason i say this cause, i felt gimicky at certain points with in GoodF
