I asked them to send me a proof, but it's a rush job and they want it done by june 11. Don't ask I only got the assignment last friday. I had to wait for people's essays.

How are you going to inspect bluelines and matchprints if they are in Germany? Unless they mail them to you, proofing is gonna be hard.

I'm kind of scared because I've only done business cards and invites and nothing this scale before. The printer is in Germany and I'm in Alberta Canada.
What should I ask for when I talk to the printer? thanks guys!!

throw in a cocaine fee.

wow, piper... you got your work cut out for you. What did you use to do layout before InDesign? I'm only asking because if it's your first time using InD, you might hit the occasional snag, and it'll be a pain to troubleshoot while you have this deadline hanging over your head. Good luck!

thanks gorbie. It's a pretty simple layout with about 12 full bleed images and about 6 smaller images.

1) $3,000 USD
2) that's tough to say without seeing your entire set-up.

one more question,
I am scanning negatives with a good Nikon negative scanner. I only have a contact sheet to go by in terms of lightness/contrast and color. It's really hard to tell if the color is correct. What do you think I should do?
thanks again.

Ok I forgot to ask this, but how much should i be charging a print job like this? I'm doing this for work, but I'm on contract so I hope after I leave they will ask me to do more.
thanks again for your help. much appreciated.

yes kld! Style sheets and Master pages. I just didn't think to mention that earlier because he's already started.
- kld0
style sheets are your friend. create headers, subheaders, body text etc. so you can change text attributes globally any time.

You can place pictures in text boxes in InDesign, but it's a rare case that i ever use that feature. It just seems more hassle than it's worth sometimes. I generally use it if i'm showing that "this bug next to an item means 'Registered Units.'" But even then, i'd rather not do it that way.

good luck piper

Just wanted to know if I can place a picture in the middle of a text box so that if the text moves the picture will move with it? just in case there will be more words added, I won't have to manually move the image.

I'm using Indesign, my first time opening the program. :)
