What would you guys recommend as a good inkjet that is light and water resistant and hopefully not outrageously expensive? I am currently looking at the Epson 1280 and the Canon i9100.

(Jun 1 05, 12:57)yes you can. mine broke down in less than 6 months. go for canon for sure! got the 9100 and it is awesome. actually you could go for the older 9000 and get it for a very cheap price (like less than $200 off ebay.)

sorry rando. that sounded like a dick response. no offense, just my personal problems with epson : )

I'd vote for Canon as well. I've been pleased.

how many 11x14's roughly can you print before you have to change tanks?
- Duane0
50-75? Just guessing. I don't change mine often. When I do, it's usually photo magenta or photo cyan.
Carty, some day I want to work with you. Love your work.

my canon died. i think i need a new one. i was thinking about epson but i have a canon digicam. is it true that you should stick to the same brand for printer - camera?

Are the 2 printers mentioned the best in that price range. Any others?

I LOVE my Canon i9900. It eats photo magenta and photo cyan, but you can order new cartridges from sellers on ebay for $1.99.

I got a big box full of 740i ink for around $80. It would be nice to be able to get generic ink for my new printer if the quality is the same.

testpilot.. holla at me.

Carty, check your mail. and jenny. i'll have to look into that. i find that most carts. that are cheap are just that. it sucks, but's it's usually true.

i have the 9100 and its amazing, now the 9900 is available and i hear it's better. i've heard nothing good about the 1280.

weird, i have the epson 1280. it works perfectly, prints beautifully. i know about 3-4 people who have had one for years with no problems. i always recommend it. you pretty much have to use epson paper with epson printers though, but that doesn't bother me.
