Yo peeps, I'm thinking bout switching but my cash is limited and I was wondering if there was a apple model out there that would be the deal to buy (used is fine) and then add aftermarket drives/memory/etc... Can you upgrade the processor on Apples?
Right now I am looking at this http://tinyurl.com/79k9b (ebay)
Any good? Fast? I have no f*cking idea what i'm doing here... lolThanks for any advice

Enter response: If price matters, I would avoid Apple.
What do you want to use your machine for?

shutting down and signing off. bed ahoy.

depending on how the bidding goes, if it gets close to say.....like $1200, i'd just get a new 17"iMac G5.
that G4 does have some good specs and the extra cards seem nice but....just depends on the price.

jDs: deezigns o course, so I'd be running adobe and macromedia programs on it....

thanks auricom. How bout this one? Dual g4 500mhz - considerably cheaper http://tinyurl.com/bzlrb

Don't switch!
- imakedesign0
macromedia products run slooowww on macs.

dyea i was just going to tell you a dual 500 would still smoke your face off speed wise.
i just helped a buddy get one and it's speedy.
- jDs0
Then you can definitly use the dual-procs :->
I think that price is probably reasonable, but I wouldn't trust any of these yahoos! Find comperable systems on ebay, watch them, and find out what the market rate is for a solid dual proc g4 Mac.
Best of luck!

I say check the Portland Craigslist first, before buying from eBay. That way you can see the guy trying to sell you a USED machine face to face.
See if this guy still has this one...
