Sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but I'm going to London in a few weeks, having trouble finding a decent, cheap (ish) hotel...
Anyone got any ideas?
Two nights, me and the missus, mid week, first week of June... £50 pppn as a ballpark.
Thank ya'll.

check the thistle websites. those are alright. and there's a number of them. but i think they're more like £70.

£50? You'll be lucky.
I would just go with the IBIS because it's a flat rate per room and not pp.

I'm happy to spend more, that's just a starting point.
Last time was there stayed at the Sunborne Yacht, which was nice but waayyyyy to far away - Docklands light railway pissed me off...
Want something central, Oxford Street, Cov Garden etc...

some friends stayed at The President last christmas..nothing fancy but clean rooms and fairly good location (next to tube station, i think russell square) for £50

yeah, russel square has a load of cheap clean places.
some allow you to pay by the hour and not the night too...

(May 25 05, 02:07)Correct me if I'm wrong but your budget is actually £100 per night (£50 per head).
http://www.lastminute.com lists the Chelsea Village Hotel (4 star, £99 per night).
If you want to push the boat out a bit then you could consider The Carlton Tower Hotel (stayed there last yr, v good) which is dead close ro Harvey Nics (if you like that sort of thing, Mrs Nicko does!).
Finally, if you're feeling adventurous you could leave it till the very last minute and check out http://www.laterooms.com

not sure if this is in the area you prefer, but I stayed here for a few nights, and enjoyed it.
