Sorry, is it being posted online?
- anzelina0
it should be, it's in version3's mailbox right about now
- anzelina0
you're right.
it's the way illustrator exports jpgs. it crops them to whatever is an object in the file. anyone know how to make the exported jpg always be the size of the illustrator document, no cropping?
- dan_dan_dan0
Create an outline with no stroke or fill. Maybe the size of the document to make a boundry.
- anzelina0
yeah that is a good workaround, but sometimes an object will extend past the boundary, even if it's hidden and will make the jpg too big, ie, extra space on the edges.
any other workaround?
- version30
just put a solid white 3.5 x 2 box behind it and center your text on it
- dan_dan_dan0
It's very—flat. The elements are fighting for center stage i.e. the illustration and the type.
The type is screaming both being all caps as well as very ornamental.
- anzelina0
righto.
but what if i have an image that is off the edge of the document [ie bleeds] but is not a part of the image? if i export it, the jpg includes the extra space. the only thing i've found i can do is bring it into photoshop and then crop it.
of course, this is not really applicable to this file, but for others, any suggestions?
v3, do you want me to send you a proper file?
- version30
by proper do you mean edited to be the right dimensions you wish your card to appear if so go ahead and i'll replace the one currently up. if you mean the ai, theres no need for that
- version30
isn't daniel sweet?
thanks yo
everyone have a good night
- anzelina0
yes, by proper i meant the right dimensions. i went ahead and sent it.
dan, i see what you mean about the type competing with image.
do you think this could be helped by making the image smaller?
i don't mind that the type is all caps, i know it might be 'screaming' to some, but it's the most appropriate font i could find, and the lowercase is UGLY
- dan_dan_dan0
Of course it's not perfect, but I knew it was supposed to bleed.
My comment was made based on the element being bled to the botttom edge.
- anzelina0
oh hey thanks for that dan!

I'm not a fan of the type.
Although I may not understand the extremities of the project, looking at the work as an element of communication [a business card], I don't agree with the type.
I would love to help suggest an alternate type choice, but if you feel that one is appropriate, it could only mean you know the project well enough to say so.
- anzelina0
i do think that the type is hard to read, ie with the phone numbers.
help me find a better typeface!
preferably one i can find for free...

it's time for me to go to bed...
