ok I am sick of CSS....its fine it works...its better...but I dont feel like using it...its easier to do tables.... done....
I dont know when the crossover occurred....but all I know is that I am a designer...WHY THE HELL DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS CRAP....

why? because you "design" for the web.
the web is not print. the web is not tv. it is the web. it was and is built for delivery of information and content.
xhtml/css coupled with semantic markup technique allows for the interchange of data between all clients. whether that be cell phone, pda, thin client, pc, mac, xbox, tivo, etc., etc.
the web is markup and script. that is what it was built on and for.
it isn't that hard to understand.
there is a right way and a wrong way. finally, people are pushing for the right way to build websites.
you need to know it and adapt to using it if you call yourself a web developer or designer.
that is why.
i really don't understand the fight? if presented with the correct way to do something, and it makes life easier in the long run, it should be natural evolution.

yeah but when I am getting clients for $500....how the hell am I supposed to spend time on all that...
sure I would love to learn it....but I dont have the time when I am too busy just surviving...

welcome to technology. i run the network for 8 radio stations across two cities. i spend 12 hour days ensuring servers run, systems work and people can find the fucking send button in their email client.
the rest is spent reading magazines, books, manuals, etc. and yet, i still find time for a life. not too mention arguing on nt.
web design. programming. networking. technology in general is about fast paced adaptation.
it is the nature of the industry.
besides, i hardly see xhtml, css, javascript/ecmascript, the dom and xml as brain killing studies.
this is the problem with people learning software instead of the language. instead of buying (or cracking) dreamweaver, why not open a book about xhtml and a text editor and actually learn how to design and develop a website?

well said.... I will tell Visa that when they call...

i said the same thing...but i bit the bullet and spend much more time than i was paid for on projects because i had to learn a new method of doing everything...but now i can develop a site in half the time and can take on more projects...hence more money...sucks short term but way worth it in the longrun
