Just wondering what to do about this. I sent a quote for getting business cards made and die cut. In my request i specified DIE CUT rounded corners. Her response was the rounded corner would be a minimum of 1000 cards and the price of printing. So i order them send the artowkr and wait. They end up being 2 days late so I couldnt not pick them up as the printer was hr plus away and i friend was coming to see me from the city the printers were in a few days later. I ask her to pick them up she brings them and they are all wrong. first off they look as if they werent dry cause theres imprints of the front on the back and back ont he front and a few smudges but not terrible some are horrible though. Then i see the rounded corners are the way i send in the file like the radius of the corners and they look as if they were sanded the rounded corners are smooth at all. So i call to complain the printer says DIE CUTTING would be to expensive you didnt want to pay that much so we did it that way. I dont think that was his call to make so i double check my request to make sure it said die cut it did. I call back and now they refuse to fix them cause no one else ever complains about them. They they proceed to ask my age i say im 23 but thats not relevnt then they say i must be new fresh out of school and know nothing. They said that i should go back to school or read a book or switch fields. they say they gave me what i quoted but i said you didnt quote what i asked for then i was willing to compromise and take a credit then pay for the die and proceed but now since they said i was "dumb" i wanted a refund i dont feel they deserve my hard earned money. She then says she wont and hangs up. I call back she continues to refuse and listen to me then says im immature and hangs up again stating she will not answer my calls. What do i do i have 1000 cards i can not use they look so amateur not only that they started to put me down for there mustake. If anyone has any suggestion on what i should do please let me know. I can also send you the correspondence between us for you to decide who is right and wrong.
thank you and sorry for the long read.

you have every right to complain. the damn ink smudge is enough for a reprint.
check into small claims court or get some legal advice. all you'll need to do is send a threatening letter. if possible get your cash back and go elsewhere.

man u already paid for all of them??? or just 1/2 of it?

what??
she hung up on you? discriminated against you for your age? made claims about your emotional stability? insulted your level of education?
i'd write a long letter to her and state that you're going to do everything you can to let everyone know about their unprofessionalism.
what an idiotic company.

i had a friend grab them she paid for it all she doesnt know what to look for she looked at the colours it was black and white and looked at the corner which was rounded she thought they look ok. I would have picked them up myself if they werent 2 days late and i couldnt make it. So yeah she paid for the lot.

better business bureau

i would drive to their office and share with them a piece of my mind.
just make sure you have your rant scripted, and be confidend and scary.
if you let people walk all over you, they will.
then i'd probably throw a brick through a few of their windows
- hiten0
yeah she totally dissed me out. I'm not he best designer but im not the worst i may not have the best work but i try and i cant help it if my clients dont what there deisng to look like the latest trends i just work hard and try to get my dues. I filed a complaint with the BBB we'll see but ill write them an email.

seriously...tell them you know a large amount of people from the design community and promptly begin protesting against them...make them look bad...
- BonSeff0
did you sign the quote or make a purchase order where it clearly stated die cut?
if so it is a legal binding order.
also, did they charge you for the die cut?

if they like smudges so much ask them how they feel about a smudge campaign against there business. then stand out the front of their busness and hand out the dodgy cards to customers walking into their print shop and tell them about how they treated you. alternatively you could go to the consumer protection agency and tell them about it
- ********0
or you could simply chuck a few well aimed bricks through their windows.
that'll learn the bastards.
- _salisae_0
they have you questioning your design skills because you hired them as a printer
that is just so fucking silly
i'm mad like the hulk right now about it
- airey0
man don't bag your abilities! we are all designers trying to be better that's it. not to mention someone's design skills mean nothing with this issue! even if it were done in word by a semi-blind accountant with a comic sans fixation they still owe a damn reprint! stand tall brother, your in the right just hopefully that'll mean something.

here is the main correspondence in pdf form i state DIE. I agree im not most knowlegdeable in printing but i thought my request was pretty forward.

i will admit the whole email trail is vague. but still i think im right.
- airey0
yeah, the round corner argument may be flimsy from your side. still, the smudged printing is an issue worthy of a reprint.
- hiten0
even though i specified i wanted it diecut. I dont know printing cost thats why i asked them for a quote if i kknew i could ball park it myself. The whole email i thought she was going to diecut them.
i hate them!
- tehgee0
he said in his spec rounded corners - diecut, but im sorry for $100 i wouldnt have expected soemthing too great
- Nac0
make sure you get a print check if they are pretty valuable next time...and seek out a better printer...if they are taking 7 days for 2 over 1, even with a die cut..they kinda smell funny....of course they may be sending it out as another printer and just be acting as a broker.....sorry dude...you got punkd...but go punk them...hardcore..oh and send this to them
- tehgee0
they are however still unprofessional jers and you should make stickers to put on your cards that say "i went to XYZ printers and all i got was this crappy business card" and hand em out all over town
